Insights on the Structure and My Favorite Tui Na techniques I learned from my Chinese mentors… (8 CEUs)
This class looks at how to evaluate and treat the body’s structure; specifically the soft tissue that keeps the spine in place and the head on straight!
One of the most important yet ignored areas of the body, especially when treating internal conditions, is the structure. Unless someone complains of neck pain or back pain, or they suffer an injury, we tend to not even check to see if they have good cervical range of motion.
I first found out how critical the structure really was when I had a whiplash patient back around 2002. Anyway, we treated for a few months and she did great. I worked on her with using a combination of acupuncture and tui na techniques I had learned from my Chinese mentors. One day, she came in with a big smile on her face stating proudly, “I no longer need my thyroid meds!” as she waved the lab report from her doctor. She thanked me over and over and was just amazed that this happened. Honestly, I was surprised myself. I wasn’t even treating her thyroid, in fact I had forgotten she was even on thyroid meds!
Anyway, this got me thinking bigger and broader. Why wouldn’t treating an injury improve hormone function? This lead me to continue to investigate, and look at the patient’s overall situation more comprehensively. I started to apply the amazing treatment techniques I learned from my exceptional teachers from China, while looking at each patient’s condition on a broader scale. The results have been outstanding - by looking deeper and uncovering hidden imbalances and treating them, patient satisfaction gets better every year. Heading into my 22 years in practice, I find that our medicine is an amazing art that just keeps getting better with time. In this class you will learn:
The basics of evaluating the cervical spine and surrounding tissue.
The basics of evaluating the lumbar spine and surrounding tissue.
Quick and effective point prescriptions.
My favorite tui na techniques.
When to use Cupping and gua sha (and when not to).
